Lion Dance

I am really, really passionate about culture, athleticism, and community.

I served as the captain and coordinator for Southern Wind Lion Dance, an Orange County-based lion dance team. Leading a team of 70+ members has taught me lessons about effective communication and aligned expectations. I've also gained valuable experience on how to run a non-profit business.

"How do you keep going when this activity adds nothing to your resume?". I was asked during a freshman orientation presentation I gave.

At the end of the day, it's the irreplaceable feeling of fulfillment whenever I hear the roaring applause from audience members and see the satisfied smiles of my performers after a successful show. Nothing will ever come close to the sheer joy I feel knowing I played a part in making someone's day. Well, maybe except for when my code executes perfectly first try.

My Lore

I was born in Johor, Malaysia. I spent the first 19 years of my life there.

In 2022, I made a big decision to move to the United States for college, alone. That was the best decision I've ever made for my personal growth, and I've since then comfortably integrated into life in the States.

I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Software Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University with a focus on Scalable Systems. I am based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
